In case you had an opportunity to attend the first "Golden Wine Day" festival in Sremska Mitrovica held on the birthday of Marcus Aurelius Probus last year, then you must have circled 19th August 2012 in your calendar in order to raise again a glass together with wine-makers, organizers of this event and wine lovers from Sremska Mitrovica to honour the Roman emperor born in Sirmium who started the mission of fostering viticulture and vine-growing in our regions

The central feast and wine exhibition are held at the same venue like last year - the ancient site of Sirmium Imperial Palace (address: Pivarska 2, Sremska Mitrovica). While you make a tour of this valuable  archaeological site, you will also have an opportunity to taste and buy some of the wines from Serbian vineyards at the stalls of our wineries.

Last year, a wine cradle "Cunnabula" was set up in the cellars of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments with an idea to create a collection of archive wines from all over the world. This year the tradition continues, so all exhibiting wine-makers shall donate samples of their wines. The festive procession of chariots, legionaries of Sirmium ("Sirmium Legionaries") and wine-makers  will set off at 18.45h through downtown area towards the Imperial Palace. The official opening ceremony of the wine festival "Golden Wine Day" is scheduled for 19h with accompanying programme. The festival is open till 00.30h. An organizer of this event is the Association of Wine Enthusiasts "Marcus Aurelius Probus" from Sremska Mitrovica.
