TELEČKA

Telečka wine region is located in the central part of Bačka province. It consists of three wine sub-regions: Zapadna Telečka (Telečka slope), Central Telečka (Bačka Topola) and East Telečka (Mali Idjoš).

According to 2012 data, there are 115 hectares of vineyards in Telečka wine region. Vineyards are situated at an altitude ranging from 80 to 110 meters. The western part of the region extends along Telečka slope which rises in relation to the surrounding flat terrain. The eastern part is plain surrounding the Krivaja River basin. Vineyards in this wine region are exposed to risk of frost.

Soil: The predominant soil types are Chernozem and Humofluvisol.

Grape Producers: In this wine region, 334 households own vineyards. The largest areas under vineyards are located in the municipality of Bačka Topola.

Varieties: Rhine Riesling, Grašac, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Kevidinka, Ezerjó, Neoplanta, Sila, Blaufrankisch, Kadarka, Probus, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Merlot.

Interesting trivia:

- The city of Sombor is unique in Serbia because there are as many as three wine regions on its territory. In addition to Telečka region, the territory of the Municipality of Sombor also constitutes a part of Bačka wine region and Subotica wine region.
