SUBOTICA

Subotica wine region comprises Subotica-Horgoš sandy terrains along the border with Hungary. Subotica consists of 3 sub-regions: Riđica, Palić and Horgoš, with the largest being Palić vineyards.

Riđica sub-region consists of 3 vinegrowing oases: Bački Breg, Rastina and Ridjica. Palić sub-region is located in the central part of the region on the sandy terrains around Subotica and Palić, while Horgoš sub-region is located in the eastern part of the region on the sandy terrains around Horgoš.

Based on 2012 data, there are 312 hectares of vineyards in Subotica wine region, with the largest area under the vineyards located in the territory of Subotica municipality. The vineyards spread in the plain, at an altitude of 80 to 130 meters.

Soil: The predominant soil types are Chernozem and Sand.

Grape Producers: In this area, 447 households own vineyards. The largest number of vinegrowers is located in the municipality of Subotica.

Varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Rhine Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Kadarka, Kevedinka, Italian Riesling, Bakator, Ezerjó, Sremska Zelenika, Manzoni Bianco, Medenac Beli
