THE BEST WINES OF SERBIA ANNOUNCED!

On February 13th, 2020, a group of 32 local wine judges gathered in Belgrade following efforts of the national Winemakers & Vinegrowers' Association to select the best Serbian wines in 8 categories and with support of the Serbian sommelier association SERSA.

So, in a way, we can also consider it a  national wine championship because the competition was open to all registered wineries from the territory of Serbia.

The competition involved 295 wines classified in 8 categories. The jury evaluated wines according to OIV methodology.

The winners by category are as follows:

THE BEST WHITE WINE MADE FROM AUTOCHTONOUS VARIETY

Gold medal: Grašac 2018 - Vinum (Srem wine region)

Silver medal: Duet 2017 - Jeremić Winery (Belgrade wine region)

Bronze medal: Bagrina 2018 - Matalj Winery (Negotinska Krajina)

THE BEST WHITE WINE MADE FROM INTERNATIONAL VARIETIES

Gold medal: Sauvignon Blanc Edicija S 2012 Kovačević (Srem wine region)

Silver medal: Chardonnay 2018 Zvonko Bogdan (Subotica wine region)

Bronze medal: Nebo 2017 Despotika (Šumadija wine region)

THE BEST ROSÉ WINE

Gold medal: Rozeto 2019 Kovačević (Srem wine region)

Silver medal: Roza Nostra 2019 - Erdevik (Srem wine region)

Bronze medal: Mlada Simonida Roze 2019 - Đurđić Winery (Srem wine region)

THE BEST RED WINE MADE FROM AUTOCHTONOUS VARIETIES

Gold medal: Tri Morave rezerva 2016 - Temet (Three Moravas wine region)

Silver medal: Sveti gral 2017 - Botunjac (Župa, Three Moravas wine region)

Bronze medal: Prokupac 2017 - Aleksandrović (Šumadija wine region)

THE BEST RED WINE MADE FROM INTERNATIONAL VARIETIES

Gold medal: Icon Campana Rubimus 2017 - Zvonko Bogdan (Subotica wine region)

Silver medal: Merlot 2017 - Izba Jovanović (Niš wine region)

Bronze medal: McC Coupage 2017 - McCulloch (Srem wine region)

THE BEST SPARKLING WINE

Gold medal: Trijumf Noir 2010 - Aleksandrović (Šumadija wine region)

Silver medal: Kovačević Brut 2010 - Kovačević (Srem wine region)

Bronze medal: Galot Gala 2016 - Galot (South Banat wine region)

THE BEST WINE MADE BY TRADITIONAL METHODS (organic, biodynamic, orange, etc)

Gold medal: Vista Hill Amphora 2017 - Vista Hill (Srem wine region)

Silver medal: Uncensored 2017 - Bikicki (Srem wine region)

Bronze medal: McC Traminac 2017 - McCulloch (Srem wine region)

THE BEST SWEET & AROMATIZED WINE

Gold medal: Makana 2015 - Bikicki (Srem wine region)

Silver medal: Black Tamjanika 2017 - Matalj (Negotinska Krajina wine region)

Bronze medal: Crni vitez 2011 - Đurđić (Srem wine region)
