The International Economic Forum (IEF2021) entitled "Eastern European Wine Industry: Challenges, Reality and Future" is an event organized by the American-Romanian company OenoCo International in online format (Zoom) on July 30th and 31st, 2021, and it's specifically tailored for winemakers , importers / distributors of wine, sommelier and wine experts from our part of Europe and the rest of the world.

The organizers aim to identify challenges and realities in the wine sector and offer realistic solutions and new development streams. With a rich agenda focusing on current topics, the forum will present esteemed speakers such as: Robert Joseph (Member of the editorial board and columnist at Meininger's Wine Business International), Caroline Gilby (MW), Elizabeth Gabey (MW), Tomislav Ivanovic (Editor-in-chief of Vinopedia and wine critic), Polly Hammond (founder of 5forests), Scott Carney (MS and Dean of Wine Studies, The Institute of Culinary Education NY) and others.

Topics include "The role of local grape varieties in building a marketing story", "More human than humans: how the Eastern European wine industry can use digital channels to overcome challenges, build relationships and brands ... and sell more wine", "The rise of Balkan grape varieties as reference examples within the extensive corpus of grape varieties" and "Starting the market!"

All topics also take into account the optimization of production capacities and exports in the context of the pandemic and the post-pandemic period.

This Forum discusses the economic sector whose share is increasingly significant in the GDP of many Central and Eastern European countries. OenoCo International also considered the diplomatic, administrative, legislative, cultural and tourism dimension created by the wine sector. Consequently, numerous partnerships have been established with diplomatic missions, central and local administrative institutions, economic, cultural and tourism organizations, chambers of commerce, wine associations, media platforms, etc.

Although initially the Forum sought to bring together only a few countries from this geographical area, thanks to its strong influence, this event will bring closer more than 10 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Serbia takes an honorable place at the Forum both in terms of the number of participants and the participation of two lecturers: Tomislav Ivanović (Vinopedia) and Ljubica Radan (Wine Academy of Serbia).

During IEF2021, the Carpathian Wine Consortium (CWC) will be established with the aim of meeting the main goals of wine producers from Central and Eastern Europe - expanding exports to new markets. Following the example of similar institutions in the West, the CWC consortium will have a role to protect interests of wineries from a legal and economic point of view and to act as a reference entity in relations with national institutions and the EU. The need for such a consortium arose from conversations with numerous winemakers during the organizational preparations of the economic forum.

Despite being held for the first time, the Forum organized by OenoCo International has successfully brought together numerous participants, renowned speakers and current topics. It is no coincidence that the media consider this forum to be the most important wine economic event this summer in Central and Eastern Europe.
