AT LUNCH WITH THE PRESIDENT OF SLOVENIA

In diplomacy and state protocol, nothing is left to chance... Even an official dinner or a festive lunch can be used to promote the host country. Local wines, cheese, authentic local ingredients... During the festive lunch, bilateral relations are discussed, but also local gastronomy.

We have an exclusive opportunity to present to you wines and menu from the official lunch organized by the President of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor on August 31st, 2020 for the Serbian state delegation led by the President of Serbia. The delegations met for lunch at Villa Zlatorog in Bled, on the sidelines of the 15th Bled Strategic Forum.

Lunch was prepared under creative guidance of chefs Andrej and Jernej Rozman from the culinary team of JGZ Brdo.

Sauvignon Blanc 2016 from Doppler Winery was served with smoked Jerusalem artichoke soup, frothed sour milk and buckwheat crisps. Apparently, the protocol decided to showcase Slovenian wine scene with Sauvignon Blanc from Štajerska, the region that excels in top-quality wines made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

Merlot 2016 from Batič Winery was a perfect companion to captive-bred game loin, baked cottage-cheese rolls with currant sauce, broccoli pumpkin cream with Tolminc cheese from the Soča Valley, grated Tolminc crumbs. Thus, the wine story about Slovenia continued in the Vipava Valley, and Slovenia was promoted at the highest level as an exciting wine and gastronomic destination.

Prekmurje gibanica, apple strudel and local artisanal chocolates were served as dessert.
