In the coming year, the city of Novi Sad bears the title of the European Capital of Culture 2022. The purpose of this title, which was established in 1985 by Melina Mercury, then Minister of Culture of Greece, is to strengthen cultural ties between Europeans, highlight the richness and diversity of European cultures and strengthen the sense of Europeanness.

Considering that wine culture is an integral part of the European identity, the city of Novi Sad has also chosen the official wines of the European Capital of Culture 2022, which will best represent the wine history and tradition of Novi Sad. Visitors and artists who visit Novi Sad will receive as a gift one white and one red wine from local varieties Grašac and Probus.

Among twenty wine labels from wineries located in the vicinity of Novi Sad (Sremski Karlovci, Novi Sad, Petrovaradin, Čerević, Banoštor, Beočin), Grašac beli 2020 wines from Vinum Winery (Sremski Karlovci) and Probus 2019 from Mrđanin Winery (Sremski Karlovci) were selected.
