The Serbian sommelier association SERSA continues its cross-border activities despite global pandemic. Following the recent online Annual Assembly session of the ASI (International Association of Sommeliers), Serbia's candidacy to host the next European Sommelier Contest in Belgrade was accepted.

Obviously, SERSA has proven its capacity to organize and host sommelier events following the Balkans Sommelier Competition in 2018 and annual Assembly of ASI in 2016, which were held in Belgrade. Therefore, Belgrade and Serbia remain in focus when it comes to global sommelier scene.

The next Contest for the Best Sommelier of Europe & Africa will be held in 2023 or 2024. The dilemma about the exact date remains due to uncertainties regarding progress of pandemic. In any case, it is certain that the best European sommeliers will gather in Belgrade and at the same time get the opportunity to get better acquainted with the wines of Serbia.
