Recently, the organizers of the largest wine competition in the Balkans have announced that this year's 9th edition of the BIWC (Balkans International Wine Competition) will be held in Belgrade from July 15th to 17th, 2020. This will probably be remembered in history as the first international wine competition in the post-corona period. After two months of fighting against the global epidemic, the Balkan countries were among the first to return to normal. This week, Serbia officially opened its borders, without the obligation to present negative test for the presence of covid-19 virus or obligatory quarantine, which creates opportunities for wine judges from abroad to come to Belgrade for the competition.

After 8 years of having Sofia (Bulgaria) as the host city, a new strategy for promotion of Balkans wines will be applied for the first time starting from this year - every year, on a rotating basis, some of the Balkan countries will host the competition. Belgrade has the honor of being the first to host the international jury members, which include 4 Masters of Wine, reputed wine judges from the Balkans and international wine dealers and distributors.
The partner in the organization of the competition in Belgrade is the wine magazine Vino & Fino. An accompanying program will be organized for the jury members during their stay in Belgrade in order to get better acquainted with the wine regions of Serbia and local wines.
The competition will take place at the Falkensteiner Hotel in Belgrade, with proper measures in place to prevent the spread of covid-19 virus.
