BAČKA

Bačka wine region covers the area of ​​Bačka province and consists of three vinegrowing oases: Temerin, Bački Monoštor and Karavukovo.

According to 2012 data, there are 22.5 hectares of vineyards in  Bačka wine region.

The vineyards extend in the plain in the vicinity of smaller water canals that constitute the Danube - the Tisa - the Danube waterway system, at an altitude of 80 meters. Hence, the vineyards in this area are exposed to risk of frost.

Soil: The predominant type of soil in this wine region is Chernozem.

Grape Producers: In this wine region, 76 households own vineyards. The largest areas under vineyards are located in Temerin municipality.

Varieties: Kevidinka, Župljanka, Chasselas, Neoplanta, Sila, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Grašac, Sauvignon blanc, Rhine Riesling, Merlot, Gamay, Blaufrankisch, Pinot Noir, Probus

Interesting trivia:

- Vineyards in Bačka wine region are a kind of experimental ground for scientific work on varieties developed at the Institute of Fruit and Viticulture in Sremski Karlovci, so you will easily come across the following varieties in Bačka region: Panonija, Bačka, Petra, Kosmopolita and Probus.
